“If you train hard, you'll not only be hard, you'll be hard to beat.” XLRI GMP batch went to outdoor leadership camp organised by Tata Steel Adventure Foundation on 3rd July 2009. Kudo to XLRI and TSAF for this memorable trip. This trip trained us on camping techniques, leadership qualities, team building and knowing more about team members.
We went to tumur Village, located nearly 30Km from Jamshedpur. Place was perfect for camping activities surrounded by mountains on one side and a small lake on other side. We learned putting up camp. We were divided in 5 groups which compete with each other in various competitions. Each day we appoint one leader of group which take care of managing whole group in various completions. Each day end we have briefing about the strength and weaknesses of leader.
We were stretched to extremes with various activities like hurdle crossing, caving, rock climbing, rappling. During caving we went to small caves and engaged in climbing, crawling and twisting our body to went pass through rocks. Every time we were helped and encourage by team members through hardships. In rock climbing we learned various skills like 3point climbing, Chimneying and Bridging. Don’t be surprised if now I climb rock faster than monkey :-)
We enjoyed the evenings with music, songs, laughter and watching movies about successful trip of Bachendri Pal, First Indian Woman to Climb Mount Everest.
On last day we went to Dimna Lake. We enjoyed the day learning skill of rafting. We have an excellent competition of improvise rafting in which we have to make our own raft and win the race. Thanks to lifejacked which keep us afloat in half sunk raft-)
It’s now 3 days to trip and I am still counting my bones and muscles which are paining :-) . It’s really life time memorial trip and memories of this trip will definitely be in golden pages of my life.
Here are some pictures of the same.
